Broken Bow cell service and cabin Wi-Fi: what actually works

Broken Bow cell service and cabin Wi-Fi: what actually works

Which carriers work in Hochatown, how good cabin Wi-Fi is, and what to plan for if you need to work from the cabin.

Broken Bow cell service is uneven. Wi-Fi varies wildly by cabin. If you need to work remotely, plan.

CELL BY CARRIER AT&T: strongest signal, works at most cabins. Best choice. Verizon: works in Hochatown proper, weaker on the north/west side of the lake. T-Mobile: spotty. Some cabins yes, some cabins no signal at all. US Cellular: solid in the region.

CABIN WI-FI Most quality cabins (including ours) have real broadband — 100+ Mbps down, good enough for video calls. Older/cheaper cabins may have hotspot-only Wi-Fi that cuts out.

BEFORE BOOKING If you need to work: ask the host directly for a speed test. A good host will tell you the number. Ours run 200+ Mbps down, 20+ up — Zoom-safe.

Skip the fees. Book direct.

Check live availability for both cabins and save up to 18% vs Airbnb. Use code PINES10 for 10% off your first direct stay.

DEAD ZONES Stevens Gap Road north of the dam: no signal for ~4 miles. Hochatown south trails: patchy. On the lake: nothing past 500 yards from a shore.
