Broken Bow Lake: everything you need to know before your first visit

Broken Bow Lake: everything you need to know before your first visit

Depth, temperature, best coves, boat rental logistics, and the swim spots locals actually use.

Broken Bow Lake is 14,000 acres of clear, deep water. Here's the ground truth.

WATER QUALITY. Some of the clearest water in Oklahoma. 15-20 ft visibility on calm days. Cold — even in July, below 15 ft is 60°F.

DEPTH. Max 185 ft near the dam. Most coves 30-60 ft. Great for jumping off pontoons.

BEST COVES. North of Stevens Gap dam: quieter, deeper, better for anchoring. South end near the marina: livelier, more traffic, better for skiing.

Skip the fees. Book direct.

Check live availability for both cabins and save up to 18% vs Airbnb. Use code PINES10 for 10% off your first direct stay.

SWIM SPOTS. Reregulation Pond (below dam) — shallow, sandy, family-friendly. Presbyterian Falls (accessed by boat) — swimming hole with a small waterfall.

BOAT RENTAL. Beaver Bend Marina and Broken Bow Water Adventures. Pontoons: $400-600/half-day. Book 2 weeks out for summer weekends.

RULES. Life jackets required 12 and under. No glass on boats. Alcohol OK for passengers not driving.

BEST DAYS. Weekday afternoons in June/September. Skip July 4th weekend — chaos.

SUNSET. West side of the lake, from Stevens Gap dam overlook. 30 minutes before sunset, park, walk to the rail.
