Where to take the dog around Hochatown
Cedar Bluff Nature Trail (Beavers Bend). 1-mile out-and-back with big pine and bluff overlooks. Easy for older dogs, shaded for summer mornings. Leashed dogs welcome.
David L. Boren Trail. A 2.5-mile loop with river frontage — the best all-around dog walk in the park. Take the loop clockwise for the gentler grade.
Stevens Gap / Cedar Creek shoreline. Quiet lake access for dogs that like water. Bring a canine PFD if you rent a pontoon or kayak — most liveries welcome dogs on board.
Grateful Head, Rolling Fork, Beaver's Bend Brewery patios. The three most reliable dog-friendly patios in Hochatown. Grill 259 and Blue Rooster usually seat dogs outside too — call ahead in peak season.

- Sound of Sunshine is our pet-friendly cabin. It sleeps 18 across six bedrooms with a hot tub, arcade, and game room on private wooded acreage — 10 minutes from Beavers Bend State Park in Hochatown. As Good As It Gets is strictly pet-free because of its private heated pool and interior finishes.
- How much is the pet fee for a Broken Bow cabin?
- Our pet fee is a flat $75 per stay for up to 2 well-behaved dogs — not per night, not per dog. The fee includes a welcome treat and pet towels. Most Hochatown cabins charge $50–$150 per stay or $25–$40 per dog per night; ours is one flat fee for the whole trip.
- Can I bring more than two dogs?
- Two dogs is our published limit. If you have a specific situation — a small third dog, a service animal, or a family reunion where multiple households each bring one — please email us before booking. Service animals are always welcome at no fee under the ADA.
- Is the cabin fenced?
- Sound of Sunshine sits on private wooded acreage with no shared property lines and an elevated, gated main deck. It is not fully perimeter-fenced — we recommend a long lead or a portable Xpen if your dog is a chaser. The property is far enough off the county road that most well-recalled dogs do fine off-leash on-property.
- Are dogs allowed at Beavers Bend State Park?
- Yes — Beavers Bend State Park allows leashed dogs on all trails and public areas. Cedar Bluff Nature Trail, the David L. Boren trail, and the Skyline Trail are the three most popular dog-friendly loops. Dogs are not allowed inside the Nature Center or the swim beach area, but they're welcome on the paved paths and picnic zones.
- Are there pet-friendly restaurants in Hochatown?
- Yes. Most Hochatown restaurants with patio seating welcome leashed dogs — including Grateful Head Pizza, Rolling Fork Takery, Beaver's Bend Brewery, and the outdoor tables at Abendigo's. Grill 259 and Blue Rooster are usually accommodating on the patio too. Call ahead in peak season.
- Are pets allowed on Broken Bow Lake?
- Yes — dogs are welcome on the lake and on rented pontoons, kayaks, and jet skis from most local liveries. Bring a canine PFD for boat days, especially on jet skis. There's no dedicated dog beach on the lake, but Cedar Creek and the Stevens Gap boat ramp both have quiet shoreline access popular with paddlers and dogs.
- What if my dog has an accident inside the cabin?
- It happens. Text us right away — we've got enzyme cleaner in the mudroom cabinet and can walk you through spot-treatment. As long as you tell us, there's no additional fee. Damage beyond normal cleaning (chewed trim, ruined bedding, urine soaked into flooring) is billed at cost and pulled from the deposit.
- Is there a nearby vet or emergency vet?
- Broken Bow Animal Clinic in town handles routine care Monday–Friday. The nearest 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital is Animal Emergency Center in Texarkana (about 1 hour). We keep both numbers, plus a nearby mobile vet, on the printed welcome sheet in the kitchen.
- Can I book Sound of Sunshine directly with my dog?
- Yes. Add the "Dog (per stay)" add-on at checkout and the $75 fee is applied to your total — one line item, one time. Booking direct also means no Airbnb or Vrbo service fees, which typically saves $200–$400 per trip on top of the pet-friendly rate.
