What to actually look for in a Broken Bow cabin with a pool — heated, screened, year-round, and the questions that filter out the bad ones.
A pool is one of the most-requested features for Broken Bow cabins, and one of the most-overpromised. Here's what to ask.
1. Is it heated? An unheated pool is unusable 7+ months of the year. Broken Bow water is cold from October through April. A heated pool is the difference between 'pool in October fall foliage trip' and 'pool you stare at from the hot tub.'
2. Year-round operating? Some cabins drain pools November–March to save chemicals. Ask directly. Ours run year-round.
3. Indoor, screened, or open? Open pools get leaves and bugs constantly in spring and fall. Screened pools solve this. Indoor pools (rare) work in any weather but feel less outdoor.

4. How big? A 10×20 is for 4 people. A 14×30 is for 8. Look at the photo, not the listed capacity. A small pool with 8 adults in it is hot tub temperature within an hour.
5. Is it heated to a real temperature? Some listings say 'heated pool' but mean 75°F. A swimmable pool in cooler months needs to hit 85°F+. Ask the host directly.
6. Maintained between stays? Same as the hot tub question. Properly maintained pools are tested, vacuumed, and chemically balanced at every turnover.
7. Where is it relative to the cabin? Pools across the yard from the back door mean wet barefoot walks. Pools right off the back porch are the move.
8. View? Pools facing pines are a vibe. Pools facing the driveway or the neighbor's deck are not.
9. Privacy? Same as hot tubs — check the photos at multiple angles. Listings that show only tight crops are usually hiding something.
10. Lighting? Pool lights matter at night. Look for warm white, not harsh blue.
BOTH OUR CABINS As Good As It Gets has a private screened heated pool, year-round at 88°F, paired with the hot tub on the same deck. Sound of Sunshine has a shared community pool plus a private hot tub.
WHAT TO BE WILLING TO PAY A properly maintained, heated, year-round pool adds $50–150/night to a cabin's nightly rate. It's worth it if you'll use it; it's wasted if you won't.
