The perfect 3-day Broken Bow itinerary

The perfect 3-day Broken Bow itinerary

A no-fluff Friday-to-Sunday plan for a first-time Broken Bow trip — what to do, where to eat, what to skip.

Three days is the right length for a first Broken Bow trip. Here's the order we'd use ourselves.

FRIDAY 2–4 PM: arrive, check in, unpack. Stop at Hochatown Grocery on the way for breakfast supplies + a bottle of wine. 4 PM: porch + bourbon. Don't try to do anything. Settle. 6 PM: dinner. First night, do Mountain Fork Brewery — walk-in, wood-fired pizza, 6 house beers. Easy. 8 PM: hot tub, fire pit. In bed by 11.

SATURDAY (the big day) 8 AM: slow coffee on the porch. 9:30 AM: drive to Beavers Bend State Park ($10 entry). Stop at the Forest Heritage Center (45 min) and walk across the dam. 11 AM: hike Cedar Bluff Trail (2 miles, 90 min including the overlook). 1 PM: lunch at Rolling Fork Takery — brisket sandwich and peach cobbler. Eat at the river-side tables. 2:30 PM: lake time. Rent a pontoon for the afternoon from Broken Bow Water Adventures (book a few days ahead in summer) or a kayak from Beaver Bend Marina. 5:30 PM: back to the cabin. Shower, pool, hot tub. 7 PM: dinner at Abendigo's (reservation made 2 weeks earlier). The ribeye, the back patio. 10 PM: fire pit, stars.

SUNDAY 8:30 AM: brunch at Adam & Eve's Garden Cafe (Wed–Sun) or cook in. 10 AM: pack up slowly. Stop at Hochatown Distilling on the way out for a tasting flight and a bottle to take home. 11:30 AM: head home, or extend by one more night and add a Sunday afternoon kayak trip on the Mountain Fork below the dam.

Skip the fees. Book direct.

Check live availability for both cabins and save up to 18% vs Airbnb. Use code PINES10 for 10% off your first direct stay.

What to skip on a first trip: the further trails (Skyline, Friends), the antique shops in Broken Bow proper, anything more than 30 min from Hochatown. There's enough in Hochatown + Beavers Bend for 3 full days.

Budget rough: $1,500–2,200 for two on a weekend (cabin, food, one pontoon day, gas).

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

What is there to do in Broken Bow for 3 days?

+

A classic 3-day Broken Bow weekend covers Beavers Bend hiking on day one, a lake or river day on day two, and a slow brewery + distillery + dinner crawl on day three. Most groups also fit in one hot-tub-and-fire-pit night.

How many days do you need in Broken Bow?

+

Three nights is the sweet spot. Two nights feels rushed once you factor in the drive; four nights is ideal if you're coming from outside Texas or Oklahoma.

What's the best day of the week to arrive in Broken Bow?

+

Thursday. You beat the Friday traffic, restaurants are quieter, and a Thursday–Sunday booking often saves 15–25% versus Friday–Monday.
