The best photo spots in Broken Bow and Beavers Bend

The best photo spots in Broken Bow and Beavers Bend

Where to actually take photos in Broken Bow — for engagement shoots, family photos, or just the trip album.

Broken Bow is photogenic almost everywhere, but a few spots stand out for engagement shoots, family photos, and Instagram. Here's the local list.

1. The Beavers Bend dam overlook — wide-open view down the Mountain Fork river valley. Best at sunrise or 1 hour before sunset. Easy parking. Great for engagement and bridal portraits.

2. Cedar Bluff Trail overlook — 2-mile hike each way, west-facing sandstone bench at the end. The light at 5 PM in October is unmatched. Worth the effort.

3. Stevens Gap Road — pull off anywhere between mile 4 and mile 8 north of the dam. Pines, lake glimpses, rolling road. Best for moody car-on-road shots.

Skip the fees. Book direct.

Check live availability for both cabins and save up to 18% vs Airbnb. Use code PINES10 for 10% off your first direct stay.

4. The Mountain Fork below the dam — clear water, sandstone cliffs, easy walk-in access. Best for family portraits and water-feet shots.

5. Beaver Bend Marina dock at sunset — west-facing across the cove. The dock photo every couple takes.

6. Any front porch in Hochatown — group shots, family shots, the 'arrival' photo. Both our cabins have wraparound porches built for this.

7. The fire pit at night — long exposure with sparkler trails or a slow shutter on the fire itself. Cabin-only access.

8. The forest canopy on Skyline Trail in fall — 4.5 miles hard, but the colors are next-level the first week of November.

9. The cliff jumps north of Stevens Gap — for action shots, mid-jump. Boat access only.

10. Hochatown Distilling's barrel room — if you're doing a bourbon-themed shoot, they'll let small groups in for free with a quick ask.

LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS There are 4–5 photographers who specialize in Broken Bow weddings and elopements. Rates run $250 for a 1-hour session up to $3,500 for a full wedding day. Ask us for recommendations — we keep a list.

DRONES Legal in most areas. Restricted within the state park boundary without a permit. The lake outside the park is fine. Stay 400 ft AGL.

GOLDEN HOUR In Broken Bow, golden hour starts 90 min before sunset. In summer that's 7:30 PM; in winter it's 4:30 PM. Plan your shoot around it.
